Oscar Salazar, Jr. For HC Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Place 2
Serving our community for a better tomorrow!
Serving our community for a better tomorrow!
I will always protect the rights of every citizen. I will be sure that every citizen's voice is always heard and that access to any and all services to which you are entitled is guaranteed. Your rights will never be denied.
I will always rule fairly within the confines of the law.
There is much that can be done for those in need. My court will always provide every possible avenue of relief, that Harris County offers, to those who are in need.
When I'm in office, court proceedings will be conducted in an efficient and orderly manner and the docket will always be respected.
I will work to restore the balance between our two Justice of the Peace courts so that your access to justice is never impeded.
Rent relief and writ of re-entry
One of the jurisdictions of a Justice of the Peace is to hear eviction and landlord / tenant disputes. The county and the state of Texas have programs in which tenants can gain rent relief to avoid an eviction. I vow to always uphold the law and to rule without prejudice.
The community suffers from nuisances ranging anywhere from abandoned vehicles and dangerous animals, to loud noise complaints. A Justice of the Peace has the ability to address these situations by utilizing county resources.
Due to different events, drivers may lose their driving privilege, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to get to work. By granting you an ODL, the court can get you back on track to obtain your regular license.
If your vehicle was towed, you’re entitled to a hearing to determine whether your vehicle was towed legally. If it wasn’t, you would be reimbursed for all of your expenses and costs as a result of the towing.
Small claim cases can be filed when there’s a dispute between two parties over money or property. The court can provide relief in these disputes through small claims court up to $20,000.
Domestic issues sometimes happen, and property can be left behind by accident. Tensions may rise from this situation. A Justice of the Peace can issue a writ of retrieval to give you peace of mind in retrieving your property.
Residents are sometimes victims to predatory credit card & personal loan companies. Unjust and unreasonably high interest rates that arise from these situations violate your personal rights. If elected to serve as your Justice of the Peace, I promise to be a fair judge who will rule within the law and hear these cases diligently.
I grew up in Pasadena, TX and graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1981. After High School, I had the honor and the privilege of serving in the United States Marine Corps. I served honorably and I would do it again, in a heartbeat.
I married the love of my life, Dawn, a first grade public school teacher, in 1995. Together we raised our two children in Precinct 2.
Gabriela, following in her mother's footsteps, is a first grade public school teacher. Nikkolas, our youngest, will start law school at the
U of H Law Center in August 2025.
I served proudly and honorably in the United States Marine Corps as an F-18 Aviation Ordnanceman from 1983 to 1987. Serving our great country was, and will always be, my distinct honor and privilege.
Soon after leaving the Marine Corps and returning home, with a passion for aviation, I earned my private pilot license at Cliff Hyde Aviation School, while living in La Porte, TX.
Flying, along with scuba diving, has been one of my most beloved hobbies.
Immediately after my service in the United States Marine Corps, I was blessed to be hired as a Process Operator at Lyondell Petrochemical Co. in Channelview, TX. Within the first two years of being at Lyondell Petrochemical Co., my two brothers and I opened the first Mornings Kolaches in 1990 in Clear Lake. Today, we own and operate six Mornings Kolaches that serve Harris County in Southeast Houston.
In 2020, my Christian screenplay, Prodigal, won 1st prize in Hollywood's prestigious Kairos Prize for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays. Prodigal is a touching story that deals with race, adoption, love, faith, forgiveness and ultimately, redemption.
As a result of the Covid pandemic and the subsequent writer's strike, Prodigal was not immediately picked up by a movie producer or production company.
In 2023, giving up on my screenplay becoming a movie, I took to the task of writing a novel based on my screenplay. At the end of 2024, while wrapping up the novel and uploading it to Amazon and Audible, John Ewing III, a movie producer in South Carolina, optioned my screenplay, and Prodigal is in pre-production to become a major motion picture. I cannot wait to watch Prodigal on the big screen.
God's timing is always perfect.
I have been a part of this community for many years, working tirelessly to make it a better place. It is such a pleasure to meet the great people of the community where they live. I love coming out to the different civic club meetings to learn about what is affecting the community and what the community is most in need of.
While meeting all these great folks, there is always time to play some Bingo.
Attending an important community meeting on a beautiful Saturday morning in Pleasantville. Bringing along some warm and tasty kolaches to compliment the piping hot coffee Coach Darryl Linden always serves up. Ms. Deborah Adams and Ms. Bridgette Murray selflessly give of their time to keep the residents of Pleasantville ever progressing and prospering.
This is service at its best.
Not everyday has to be hard work. Taking some time out in the morning at Clinton Park to enjoy great company, some delicious Mornings Kolaches and a leisurely game of bingo.
Always lots of fun and great prizes for these lucky ladies to take home.
And they tell me that I call out all the right numbers.
I love hanging out and volunteering, from time to time, with my friends, Cowboy and Nancy and Gil Sanchez of
"Going Above and Beyond" in South Houston. These guys work tirelessly form week to week to provide the good folks of South Houston with a weekly ration of household essentials. Long lines are formed that go around the Senior Center building every Tuesday, while these folks and a handful of passionate volunteers serve the needs of hundreds of families.
Their main event is always on Tuesday, but the behind the scenes work goes on from dusk to dawn every day.
I applaud their hard work and their service to the community.
Jacinto City has some very fine residents and great community leaders. I always welcome the opportunity to come out and visit with the wonderful seniors of Jacinto City and bring along some delicious kolaches from Mornings Kolaches to share.
And there is always time for a mean game of Seniors' Volleyball.
These seniors are tough.
I live in the great South Belt area of our precinct. A resident of the South Belt since 2006, I love participating in the many and varied events that our Clear Brook City MUD, the Chamber of Commerce, our wonderful Judge Jo Ann Delgado and our amazing Constable Jerry Garcia host throughout the year.
Our community will never be the same without the constant presence of Mrs. Marie Flickinger, founder of the South Belt Leader. We love you and we miss you, Marie.
